Meet Kelley
Pellon®: Where do you find inspiration for your work?
Kelley Gilbert: I find inspiration for my work all around me. I love to find new uses for old materials as well.
P: What does your creative process entail?
KG: My creative process is a lot of trial and error. Once I get to a point I like, I write down details and take pictures so I don’t forget what I have done!
P: Why do you enjoy sewing/crafting/quilting?
KG: Sewing and crafting let me create for fun and function. I was a painter, but that changed to sewing when I had my first child and wanted to provide him with things made by me.
P: Do you create mainly for satisfaction, gifts, art or another reason?
KG: Mainly satisfaction, Second for gifts, Third for sale.
P: What tips or tricks learned through experience can you share?
KG: I sew through many layers using vinyl and laminates, a soft head mallet is a VITAL tool!
P: When and why did you start sewing/quilting/crafting?
KG: My mother and grandmother taught me tosew when I was young, and I made several bad projects. But, the skill set stuck!
P: What inspires you to start a project?
KG: A need. My projects usually start with a need. Generally for my children.
